Note: the Lowcountry Trail Half Marathon and 5k has been rescheduled for October 16, due to the imminent threat of Hurricane Matthew. Palmetto Ford is also closed for the rest of the week.

Runners, put on your running shoes, fill up your water bottle and get ready for one of the most beautiful annual races in South Carolina. The Lowcountry Trail Half Marathon and 5k is back again this October 16 on John’s Island. Walk or run this beautiful organized trek through some of South Carolina’s most breathtaking scenery. The Half Marathon and 5k follow trails that will take you through landscapes of fall foliage, gorgeous old oak trees and enchanting wildlife.

The Lowcountry Trail Half Marathon and 5k both start at 8:30 am on Saturday, October 16, at the Mullet Hall Equestrian Center. Registration for the half marathon is $40 for Charleston County residents and $48 for everyone else, while the 5k is $28 and $34 respectively. Registration runs through October 7.

Friends and family who aren’t participating are welcome to come along for the experience and enjoy the pleasant fall weather while they wait for their runner or walker to finish. At the end of the race, all can stick around to enjoy a celebratory post-race meal and complimentary live music. This race is one of the most scenic and rewarding of its kind in the area. You won’t want to miss it!
