Ford is dedicated to taking responsibility for its practices and has consistently been named one of the world’s most ethical companies. This year marks the eighth in a row that the Ethisphere Institute has named Ford to the list. The Ethisphere Institute focuses on company involvement in sustainability and outside initiatives.

World's Most Ethical Companies

Ford has been named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the eighth year in a row.

The top honor puts a focus on Ford’s good corporate citizenship. Factors for the American automaker’s placement include supply chain sustainability and progressive initiatives, like the Partnership for a Cleaner Environment.

“Strong ethics and corporate citizenship are the foundation of our business philosophy, which demonstrates to our customers what we stand for as a company,” said Bill Ford, Ford Motor Company Executive Chairman.

Ford aims to maintain long-term relationships with suppliers by actively engaging with them to meet the company’s standards. The automaker is also active in safe working conditions, monitoring human rights, and various other initiatives.

The World’s Most Ethical Companies is just the most recent prestigious list that Ford landed on.  Newsweek named the automaker the Top Green Company in 2016. Forbes named Ford America’s best Employer in 2016 as well. That’s just the tip of the iceberg!

We here at Palmetto Ford Lincoln are proud to see Ford ranking among the world’s most ethical companies!

$50k in Grants to High School STEAM Students

Ford has its own STEAM program, only they’ve added the “A” to represent the arts, suggesting that creative design is just as important to the puzzle.

By now, you’ve probably heard of STEM education. These schools and programs put their focus on teaching kids how to use science, technology, engineering, and math. Kids learn about these areas on paper, but are also encouraged and shown how to apply them in real-life situations. Ford has its own STEAM program, only they’ve added the “A” to represent the arts, suggesting that creative design is just as important to the puzzle.

Ford STEAM recently paired up with Ford Next Generation Learning (NGL) to offer $50,000 in grants to students who showed particular dedication to using STEAM to improve their community. These students applied for the financial support from Ford by explaining how they could use the money along with their STEAM skills to make a change. Students needed to show strong leadership, an ability to partner with members of their community, and the capability to investigate what the “real world” needs to change for the better.

When Ford Gives $50k in grants, it’s not for nothing. The first place students won $20,000 and will use it to convert an F-Series truck to run on hydrogen fuel, plus build the solar energy farm that will power their hydrogen processor. Other winners have plans that include more solar energy stations plus mobile learning labs. The Ford STEAM grant inspires students to put their education to practical use that could change the world, just another reason why Palmetto Ford Lincoln feels proud to be connected to the Ford name.

A family car with a little thrill!

The 2017 Ford Fusion is the best car for your family. Says who, you ask? Says the people. The intelligent, advanced, sporty 2017 Ford Fusion just received the 2017 MotorWeek Driver’s Choice Award for the Best Family Sedan. MotorWeek reviews all sorts of vehicles each year and picks the very best in multiple categories by assessing things like innovation, safety, and durability.

So what is it about the 2017 Ford Fusion that makes it great for families? A lot of the value comes from the many advanced technologies that make the Fusion easy and safe to pilot. For instance, the Ford Fusion is the first Ford vehicle on the continent to offer adaptive cruise control. This feature monitors your speed and distance between you and other vehicles, making adjustments as needed. The Fusion is also equipped with Ford’s first pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection. There are many other driver-assist technologies in the 2017 Ford Fusion, which give drivers the confidence to transport their families safely.

But a family car needs to offer a little thrill to balance things out, so the 2017 Ford Fusion Sport is equipped with a 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost. This makes the sedan peppy, while the intelligent all-wheel drive promises that the Fusion Sport will have a smooth and controllable handling. 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty - Motor Trend Truck of the Year

When Motor Trend chooses any of their “Of the Year” awards, they don’t take it lightly. It’s not just about a couple of judges picking their favorite vehicle. It’s about scrutinizing each entry with tests of engineering, strength, safety and value. So while it’s no wonder that the 2017 Super Duty truck is the Motor Trend Truck of the Year, it’s no simple victory either.

Part of what makes the 2017 Ford Super Duty stand out among its competitors is a combination of strength and smart features. The Ford Super Duty is made to be used for expert towing. Its towing power alone earned it some extra points. While the Ford F-350 stands out as the biggest and baddest, the F-250 is no modest contender, either. It offers up 430 lb-ft of torque, a 2,930 payload capacity and a 12,500 towing capacity.

The F-250 Super Duty truck was ranked high on the Motor Trend list not only for its power, but for its efficiency and its safety. The latter impressed the judges, thanks to an array of features like collision warning and trailer sway control. From top to bottom, inside and out, the 2017 Super Duty earned its Motor Trend Truck of the Year award.

Inspect Your Windshield Wipers

Now that spring is finally upon us, you are likely to find yourself relying on your windshield wipers more than ever. Once the rain begins to pour, you’ll be happy to have quality, effective windshield wipers upon which to rely.

To prepare yourself, check out these easy ways to inspect your windshield wipers:

  • Check for obvious signs of rust and damage to the blades themselves.
  • Look for cracks and tears in the rubber squeegee and make sure it fits comfortably in the frame.
  • Lightly lift the windshield wipers away from the windshield, to be sure that they comfortably snap back.
  • Check that the contour of the windshield wipers corresponds to that of the windshield itself and that the wipers haven’t become warped.
  • Lastly, make sure that you aren’t too low on windshield wiper fluid. It may seem unnecessary during the rainy season, but you never know when you’ll need it!

Pothole Protection

One of the most irritating aspects of driving in the city is the constant potholes in the road. These potholes aren’t just annoying, either. They can cause your vehicle some serious damage, as well. If only there was a way to reduce the trouble potholes cause. Fortunately, Ford has the answer!

According to a Ford press release, the 2017 Ford Fusion will include a system for pothole protection.

The system included with the V6 Sport trim of the new Ford Fusion uses computer-controlled shock absorption technology to reduce the damage that potholes cause.

The 2017 Ford Fusion will be the first vehicle in its class to include this pothole protection technology.

“The new Fusion V6 Sport substantially reduces the harsh impact potholes often deliver,” says Jason Michener, Ford continuously controlled damping engineering expert. “Our new pothole mitigation technology works by actually detecting potholes and ‘catching’ the car’s wheel before it has a chance to drop all the way into the pothole.”

For all the potholes life throws your way, Ford is there to help out!
