The 2018 Ford F-150 is the latest in a long line of popular, unstoppable pickup trucks from Ford, and now drivers have a new and more efficient option when it comes to engines. With an available 3.0-liter Power Stroke® diesel engine under the hood, Ford F-150 owners now have access to all-new power and capability – as well as fuel economy. The Ford F-150 diesel engine was recently rated by the EPA to have a fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and a staggering 30 mpg on the highwayPower Stroke diesel.*

This fuel rating is possible due to the 2018 Ford F-150’s lightweight aluminum-alloy body construction and a new, smooth-shifting 10-speed SelectShift ® automatic transmission. Additionally, the Power Stroke diesel engine itself is made from aluminum and graphite for a lighter build.

The 3.0-liter diesel engine also offers a best-in-class power rating of 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to tow up to 11,400 pounds. The engine shares its technology with the F-Series Super Duty’s new 6.7-liter diesel engine, which makes the Super Duty trucks the most powerful heavy-duty pickup available on the market.

Models of the 2018 Ford F-150 equipped with the 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel engine option will begin shipping to dealers in May of this year, so make sure to come out to Palmetto Ford to try them out for yourself.

Alternate Fuel Ford F-150

Check out the newest alternative fuel to hit Ford, Compressed Natural Gas!

Ford recently announced another addition to their bi-fuel lineup and it’s none other than the F-150! The new alternative fuel Ford F-150 will allow truck enthusiasts to retain the power of a traditional pickup and save some money at the fuel pump.

For those seeking the more efficient F-150, it can be equipped with a special package that would allow its 5.0-liter V8 to run on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane. There’s no need to worry about the F-150’s power either, as it maintains the same tow and hauling ratings.

After adding the gaseous-fuel prep package to their available options, Ford will be the only manufacturer of a propane or CNG powered half-ton pickup truck. Ford continues to have the deepest lineup of CNG and propane capable vehicles including the new 2016 F-150, Super Duty trucks, Transit and Transit Connect.

If you’re ready to make the change to an alternative fuel vehicle now is the time! Come visit us at Palmetto Ford for more information today.
